Job Title: Assistant Manager, Digital Technology (Operation)
Employment Term: Permanent
Subordinates: 7 Engineers
Monthly Salary: Up to RM 12,000 (depending on your qualifications)
Job Responsibilities
Technology Service Management
Identify and manage resources for budgeting, estimating, planning, and delivering a portfolio of technology services and systems.
Engage with and influence stakeholders to ensure services meet agreed-upon service levels, security requirements, and quality standards.
Plan and implement processes, tools, and techniques to monitor and manage the performance of technology services.
Align the contribution of systems and services with organizational and financial goals, recommending sourcing options (in-house, outsourced, or hybrid).
Monitor delivery team performance, taking corrective action as needed in line with policies.
Provide timely and accurate responses to user requests and issues, supporting informed management decisions.
Lead service delivery, ensuring adherence to service levels, security standards, and quality requirements, while aligning processes across teams and providers for efficiency.
Regularly monitor and report on the performance of technology services to managers and senior users.
Service Level Management
Carry out defined tasks to monitor service delivery against service level agreements, maintaining accurate records of relevant data.
Analyse service performance to identify necessary actions for maintaining or enhancing service levels.
Initiate and report on measures taken to sustain or improve service levels.
Review and approve major IT contracts, ensuring alignment with procurement policies and procedures.
Manage relevant local market technology vendors and solution providers
Oversee the timely backup and recovery of all key IT systems as part of disaster recovery (DR) protocols.
Manage change control processes and oversee the implementation of changes
Infrastructure Operation
Provision, deploy, and configure infrastructure services and components.
Monitor infrastructure for load, performance, and security events; report metrics and resolve operational issues.
Execute standard operational procedures, including backups and restorations.
Perform agreed system software maintenance tasks, automating routine system administration using standard tools and basic scripting.
Apply technical expertise to maintain and optimize the technology infrastructure, executing updates and leveraging automation tools. Configure tools or create scripts to automate infrastructure tasks.
Maintain operational procedures and ensure adherence, using infrastructure management tools to monitor load and performance statistics.
Investigate and resolve operational issues, providing reports and improvement proposals to stakeholders.
Contribute to the planning and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and updates, executing agreed changes and maintenance routines.
Governance
Define governance requirements within your area of accountability, ensuring alignment with the organization’s values, ethics, and broader governance frameworks. Communicate delegated authority, benefits, opportunities, costs, and risks.
Job Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT / Digital Technology operations, infrastructure, or service management
Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial environments is a plus, but not mandatory
Minimum 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role, managing engineers, vendors, or service providers
Hands-on experience supporting business-critical systems in a production or operations-driven environment
Experience in IT infrastructure operations, such as:
Servers, networks, storage, backups, and system monitoring
On-premise and/or hybrid environments
Disaster Recovery (DR) and backup/recovery processes
System maintenance, upgrades, and operational procedures
Automation or scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, or similar) to streamline routine operations
Incident, problem, and change management
Service performance monitoring and reportingProven ability to lead, coach, and support a team of engineers
Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Able to balance hands-on involvement with planning, coordination, and decision-making
